Tiger boys’ hockey loses on road

EAST MONTPELIER — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team dropped its first games to Vermont teams last week, both to Division II rivals on the road. MUHS stands at 7-3-1 heading into its next game, on the road at St. Johnsbury on Saturday.
On this past Wednesday, host Burr & Burton blanked the Tigers, 2-0, as Bulldog goalie Jeremy Fleming made 16 saves and Sam Cottrell scored twice.
On Saturday, U-32’s Lucas Eldred scored twice as the Raiders edged the Tigers, 2-1. His second goal snapped a third-period tie, and his first-goal came in the first period on a shorthanded breakaway. U-32 goalie Rory Hynes made 19 saves.
Jerry Niemo scored the Tiger goal, and goalie Sawyer Ryan stopped 18 shots.
