Vergennes Police Log: Police charged jailed man with laptop theft
VERGENNES — Vergennes police on Sept. 8 cited a man already in Vermont State Police custody for the recent theft of a Mac laptop computer from a North Maple Street residence.
City police said VSP found the laptop in a backpack owned by Devan J. Corliss, 23, who they described as homeless and already in the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility after VSP had arrested him for another offense. VSP recognized the computer as similar to one city police had reported as stolen and contacted them.
Vergennes police came and examined the laptop and confirmed it was the one stolen from North Maple Street, and cited Corliss for the theft. They said he remained in jail.
