Tigers split games in tennis matches

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school tennis play late last week, the Middlebury Union High School girls team won a match, while the Tiger boys dropped a pair of contests.
TIGER GIRLS
On Wednesday, the Tiger girls blanked host North Country, 7-0, to improve to 8-4. Notable among the results was junior Marvie Avery’s win at No. 1, a result that pushed her record this spring to 10-0.
In individual matches:
• At No. 1 singles, Avery, M, beat Danielle Therrien, 6-0, 6-1.
• At No. 2 singles, Jesse Wulfman, M, beat Brianna Grimm, 6-1, 6-3.
• At No. 3 singles, Julia Cluss, M, beat Emily Dobler, 6-3, 6-3.
• At No. 4 singles, Sara Boe, M, beat Kristina Gauvin, 6-1, 6-2.
• At No. 5 singles, Lindsay Wells, M, beat Sam Stanhope, 6-1, 6-0.
• At No. 1 doubles, Dorothy Punderson and Charlotte Keathley, M, beat Hailie Lyon and Erica Tweed, 6-3, 6-1.
• At No. 2 doubles, Hannah Stoll and Anna Caliandro, M, won by forfeit.
TIGER BOYS
On Wednesday, visiting North Country bested the Tiger boys, 5-2.
The individual results were:
• At No. 1 singles, Travers Parsons-Grayson beat Bo Tran, M, 6-1, 6-1.
• At No. 2 singles, Thomas Durivage beat Marcello Hanta-Davis, M, 6-3, 6-0.
• At No. 3 singles, Nate Marsh beat Bob Avery, M, 6-0, 6-1.
• At No. 4 singles, Fred Petzolat beat Eric Podraza, M, 6-0, 6-0
• At No. 5 singles, Jerry Staret, M, beat Paul Croizet (NC) 6-2, 6-0.
• At No. 1 doubles, Nick Holmes and Ben Silver, M, beat Henry De La Bruere (NC) 6-0, 6-1.
• At No. 2 doubles, Ian Major and Nathan Grimm beat Thomas Crowne and Max Mayone, M, 4-6, 6-4, (12-10).
On Friday, host Harwood blanked the Tigers, 7-0, in a match moved indoors. MUHS dropped to 4-5. Due to time constraints, individual matches played one set to eight games. The results were:
• At No. 1 singles, Conner Barker, H, beat Tran, M, 8 – 3
• At No. 2 singles, Thibault Pelhate, H, beat Podraza, M, 8-2.
• At No. 3 singles, Brian Schoellkopf, H, beat Staret, M, 8-2.
• At No. 4 singles, John-Morgan Randolf, H, beat Holmes, M, 8-7 (7-3).
• At No. 5 singles, Drew Platt, H, beat Mayone, M, 8-1.
• At No. 1 doubles, Henery Hermonoski and Wojciech Wyszomirski, H, beat Avery and Silver, M, 8-0.
• At No. 2 doubles, Johnathan Zacharians and Colin Fennerly, H, beat Crowne and Parker Castle, M, 8-0.
