Lacrosse: MUHS, VUHS boys win; girls, OV boys fall

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school lacrosse action earlier this week, the Middlebury and Vergennes boys earned road wins, but the Middlebury girls took their first loss and the Otter Valley boys lost on the road.
MUHS BOYS
The Tiger boys came back after a long layoff and topped host Woodstock, 6-2, on Monday. Connor Quinn scored twice to lead the attack, and Sam Usilton, Bobby Ritter,Nate Hermann andNick Audet tacked on a goal apiece. Nathan Lalonde’s 12 saves in goal backstopped the victory.
The 4-1 Tigers were set to host defending Division I champion Champlain Valley on Wednesday and are scheduled to entertain Mount Mansfield on Saturday at 4 p.m.
VUHS BOYS
The Commodores clipped winless host Randolph on Tuesday, 9-5. Erik Eisenhower (three goals) and Deighlin Lynes and Kyle Mailloux (two apiece) led the attack, while Trevon Smith andTyler Crowningshield chipped in a goal apiece. Broc Clark backstopped the win as VUHS improved to 2-2.
MUHS GIRLS
Visiting Mount Mansfield edged the Tiger girls, 11-9, on Tuesday in what was the Cougars’ opener. Jess Glenn scored a game-high five goals to spark MMU, and Marina Bowie scored twice, including her 100th career goal. MMU goalie Colby Knight stopped nine shots.
Emma Best led MUHS with three goals and an assist, while Emily Kiernan (two goals, assist), Julia Rosenberg (two goals), Emily Robinson (goal, three assists) and Emma Donahue (goal) also scored. Goalie Baily Ryan stopped 13 shots as the Tigers dropped to 2-1.
OV BOYS
Host Hartford bested the Otters, 17-1, on Monday. Erik Sherman found the net for OV, and Coach Randy Stewart said goalies Carson Leary andShawn Martin split time and both played well. The Otters dropped to 1-5.
