Car stolen from downtown Bristol
BRISTOL — Police in Bristol are on the lookout for a car stolen in the village enter on Wednesday evening.
On Feb. 26, at 6:54 p.m. Bristol police received a complaint that some males had stolen alcohol from Champlain Farms. Police said that while they were investigating, one of the males thought to be involved in the theft of the alcohol escaped arrest by fleeing in a vehicle he stole from behind Cubbers restaurant.
The owner had started the car, a brown 2005 Volvo CX7, to let it warm up, and when she returned found the male sitting behind the wheel. She began yelling at the male, who drove off in the vehicle.
Officers were flagged down within minutes of the vehicle theft and a be-on-the-lookout notice was sent around the state for the Volvo, which has a Vermont license plate with the tag “FDF849.”
Police late on Thursday said they had identified the suspect who stole the vehicle, as well as a possible accomplice to the vehicle theft. This incident is still under investigation. Officers have been in contact with multiple police agencies in Vermont as well as New York following up on possible locations of the vehicle and the one suspect.
Anyone with information on the location of the 2005 Volvo is asked to call the Bristol Police Department at 802-453-2533 and talk to Sgt. Crowe or Officer Otey.
