Boys’ soccer: Area teams come up short

ADDISON COUNTY — In area high school boys’ soccer action late last week, Middlebury, Vergennes and Otter Valley all came up short.
Mount Abraham (3-0) was idle. The Eagles will host Milton on Monday.
TIGERS
On Friday, defending Division I champion Champlain Valley Union remained unbeaten with an 8-0 win over visiting MUHS. Goalies Bo Tran andWilder Perera teamed up to make 13 saves for the rebuilding Tigers, who dropped to 0-4.
COMMODORES
On Friday, visiting Montpelier improved to 2-1-1 with a 3-1 win over VUHS. The Solons scored twice in the first half and once in the second before Liam Hayes put the Commodores on the scoreboard by converting a feed from Dana Ambrose. Goalie Dylan Raymond stopped nine shots for the 1-2 Commodores, while Connor Cossett made 13 saves for the Solons. 
OTTERS
On Saturday, host Green Mountain defeated Otter Valley, 7-2, despite 17 saves from OV goalie Shane Quenneville. Colton Leno scored both OV goals in the second half as the Otters dropped to 2-3. Chieftain goalie Kyle Kemp made 14 saves.
