VERGENNES — An 18-year-old Vergennes resident was charged on Sept. 6 with aggravated domestic assault for allegedly knocking her twin sister unconscious and choking her, and both women were charged with simple assault on a third woman in an earlier incident.
This past Friday, police cited Brittney N. Rogers-Wilson of West Main Street for aggravated domestic assault and lodged her at the Chittenden County Correctional Center for lack of $5,000 bail.
Police said a citizen alerted them to a woman in distress in the back of a pickup truck on Main Street, and when they responded they found Rogers-Wilson’s twin sister. Police alleged that Brittney Rogers-Wilson kicked her in the head, knocking her out, and afterward choked her.
On Sept. 5 police cited both Brittney and Amanda Rogers-Wilson, 18, with simple assault for an Aug. 28 incident. Police said the victim alleged that Amanda Rogers-Wilson kicked and punched her while she was sleeping at their home, and also threw the victim’s cell phone and damaged it, leading also to an additional citation for unlawful mischief.
Police also allege that Brittney Rogers-Wilson later punched the victim in the face in the Champlain Farms parking lot. Police said they believe the sisters were upset that the victim had contacted an ex-boyfriend of one of them.
In other incidents between Sept. 2 and 8, Vergennes police:
•  On Sept. 2 referred a couple breaking up and arguing over possessions to civil court.
•  On Sept. 2 twice dealt with a woman who initially allegedly attempted suicide at a South Maple Street residence. Police found her on the porch with cuts on her arms, and the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad took her to Porter Hospital for evaluation. She was released, but police later in the day discovered she had overdosed on drugs, and VARS returned her to the hospital. On Sept. 7 police went back to check her welfare, but she was not at home; police fed and gave water to a cat there during that visit.
•  On Sept. 2 confiscated an air rifle from a juvenile who shot another youth with a rubber pellet, without causing injury. Police also warned the boy.
•  On Sept. 2 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Main Street.
•  On Sept. 3 aided Vermont State Police by responding to a burglar alarm on Button Bay Road in Ferrisburgh; police said it is possible the home was entered.
•  On Sept. 3 took a report that a driver had left the Small City Market without paying for gas; the owners said they planned to send a bill to the driver, whom they recognized.
•  On Sept. 3 declined to serve a landlord a no-trespass order in an ongoing dispute with a Main Street tenant.
•  On Sept. 3 handled a minor two-car accident on Main Street.
•  On Sept. 3 arrested Daniel J. Quattrocci, 46, of Lincoln for domestic assault and lodged him at the Chittenden County Correctional Center. Police allege that he threatened, pushed, threw the glasses of and grabbed the neck of the victim in a city parking lot.
•  On Sept. 4 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Main Street.
•  On Sept. 4 contacted the owner of a car with an alarm sounding on Main Street.
•  On Sept. 4 took a report that a woman’s cell phone had been stolen; it was found soon afterward.
•  On Sept. 5 patrolled South Maple Street, but issued no tickets or warnings.
•  On Sept. 5 accepted cash found on South Water Street by a citizen.
•  On Sept. 5 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Panton Road.
•  On Sept. 6 checked a Hillside Drive residence for a possible burglary, but could not determine if it had been entered, and nothing was missing.
•  On Sept. 7 investigated a report of slashed tires on North Green Street.
•  On Sept. 7 responded to a two-car accident with minor injuries on South Maple Street.
•  On Sept. 7 helped a motorist get into a locked car at the Northlands Job Corps.
•  On Sept. 8 arrested Chad Levasseur, 26, of Vergennes for simple and aggravated assault and lodged him at the Chittenden County Correctional Center. Police said in a downtown incident he kicked one Northlands Job Corps student in the back and punched another in the head; the second victim was knocked unconscious by the blow or fall and suffered a two-inch cut, police said. Police said they believe Levasseur was upset because the students were acting in a manner he believed was scaring his dog, and then refused to stop.
