VERGENNES — Vergennes police in two separate incidents this past weekend ticketed five minors for alcohol use and issued them court diversion paperwork, and in one also cited a 21-year-old motorist for driving under the influence of alcohol and providing alcohol to minors.
In that June 8 incident police stopped a car on Green Street after receiving a report from Button Bay State Park that an underage drinking party had been broken up there. Following that traffic stop, police cited Anthony Kimball, 21, of Middlebury for DUI, alleging that his blood-alcohol content tested at just over the legal limit at 0.085 percent, and for providing alcohol to minors.
Three minor occupants of the car were ticketed for consumption of alcohol, said police, who issued them court diversion paperwork.
On June 9, police spotted and approached a suspicious car on MacDonough Drive and received consent to search it. Two occupants were ticketed and issued paperwork for underage drinking, while police said a third occupant will probably be ticketed for possession of marijuana.
In other action between June 3 and 9, Vergennes police:
•  On June 3 helped a motorist get into a locked car on Panton Road.
•  On June 3 looked for a fox reported to be near Vergennes Union High School.
•  On June 3 were told someone had shot a BB at a door window.
•  On June 3 looked unsuccessfully for a white car reported to be following a girl on a bicycle on Little Chicago Road in Ferrisburgh.
•  On June 3 warned the owner of a dog running loose on Main Street.
•  On June 3 investigated the theft of a laptop computer from a South Maple Street home.
•  On June 4 ticketed a man for possession of marijuana after his vehicle was searched following a report of a suspicious conversation at Champlain Farms.
•  On June 5 heard a complaint about a woman driving a car without permission and determined ownership of the vehicle was a civil dispute among three parties that police could not resolve.
•  On June 5 helped nursing home personnel return a dementia patient to the facility.
•  On June 5 issued a no-trespass order to a man on behalf of a Main Street resident.
•  On June 6 helped the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad at a Walker Avenue call.
•  On June 7 began investigating the reported theft of prescription medication from a North Green Street residence.
•  On June 7 looked into a dog complaint on Thomas Circle and determined there was no problem.
•  On June 7 checked out a reported threat made to a Vergennes Union High School staff member and decided it did not rise to a criminal level.
•  On June 7 checked the welfare of a Main Street woman, who was found to be fine.
•  On June 7 dealt with a noise complaint at a Main Street apartment building.
•  On June 8 backed up Vermont State Police at a Bristol custody dispute.
•  On June 8 spoke to an allegedly suspicious man outside the post office and determined there was no problem.
•  On June 8 asked the owner of a truck improperly parked near the intersection of South Maple and South Water streets to move it.
•  On June 9 helped VSP by responding to a one-car accident on South Middlebrook Road in Ferrisburgh.
•  On June 9 dealt with a landlord-tenant dispute on Main Street involving lead paint and adequate notice to the tenant of work to be done at an apartment.
