MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police received a call from a shocked Buttolph Drive resident who had found a male college student from Alaska sleeping on her couch on March 13. The student told authorities he was trying to find the Courtyard by Marriott hotel.
Police said the Buttolph Drive resident ended up taking the student to the hotel.
In other action last week, Middlebury police:
•  Responded to an unlawful trespass complaint in the Case Street area on March 11.
•  Received a report of a theft from a Court Street Extension business on March 11.
•  Investigated an unlawful mischief complaint at a North Pleasant Street residence on March 11.
•  Investigated reports of suspicious people in the Mead Lane and Washington Street areas on March 12.
•  Responded to a theft complaint in the Court Street area on March 12.
•  Assisted an employee of a Court Street business who had been receiving harassing phone calls on March 13.
•  Served a no-trespass order on a person who was not wanted at a North Pleasant Street residence on March 13.
•  Connected a Cross Street resident with mental health counseling after he filed several false reports, including that a fatal wolverine attack had occurred in his building on March 13.
•  Responded to a report of a disruptive customer at the Rite Aid Pharmacy on Court Street Extension on March 14. The customer left the store before police arrived.
•  Tended to a disorderly conduct complaint in the Charles Avenue area on March 14.
•  Received a truancy complaint from Mary Hogan Elementary School on March 14.
•  Received a call on March 14 alleging that Brad Pitt had killed someone in a Cross Street apartment building. Police confirmed that no such crime occurred.
•  Got counseling help for a local man who allegedly told police that someone had been shot in his apartment complex on March 15. The report was false.
•  Investigated a break-in at a Valley View Road apartment on March 15. Police said nothing was apparently stolen from the home.
•  Received a junk ordinance complaint filed against a Woodland Park resident on March 15.
•  Reported that the local animal warden had euthanized a sick fox found in the Washington Street Extension area on March 15.
•  Contacted the local animal control warden about a possible rabid fox seen in the Seminary Street area on March 16.
•  Investigated a motor vehicle accident, with injuries, on Route 7 North on March 16.
•  Cited Allen Jennings, 27, of Middlebury for violations of his conditions of release (alcohol restriction), following a report of a fight between two men in a North Pleasant Street apartment on March 17.
•  Responded to separate disorderly conduct complaints in the Buttolph Drive and Seymour Street Extension neighborhoods on March 17.
•  Cautioned the host of a Seymour Street Extension-area party on March 17 about the conduct of his guests. Some of the guests were allegedly seen urinating in the back lawn of the residence, in full view of neighbors.
•  Were informed of a Facebook posting by a Rutland man who wrote he had a handgun and was going to take his life on March 17. Police said they forwarded the information to Rutland City police, who interceded and got counseling help for the man.
•  Cited Sarah Lawton, 34, of Hancock for driving under the influence of alcohol, following an inspection of defective equipment on her vehicle on Court Street on March 17. •  Investigated a disorderly conduct complaint in the Lodge Road area on March 18.
