BRISTOL — Bristol police on July 5 arrested two Monkton men and charged them with armed robbery after they allegedly forced their way into a Bristol nursing home and made off with narcotics on July 4.
Police arrested Timothy J. Boardman, 42, and Alec T. Morse, 20.
Authorities allege that the two suspects, armed with tire irons, grabbed an employee as she was leaving the Living Well Care Home on Maple Street at around 10 p.m. and forced her to re-enter the facility.
Once inside, Boardman and Morse allegedly demanded drugs and cash from the home.
The initial investigation, assisted by troopers from the New Haven state police barracks and Vergennes Police Department, revealed the two suspects had fled on foot to a vehicle parked a short distance from the care home. Further investigation and evidence led police to believe Boardman was involved in the incident, according to authorities.
Bristol Police Officer Josh Otey applied for and obtained a search warrant for Boardman’s home in Monkton. That warrant was executed at approximately 6 a.m. on the July 5. Police arrested Boardman while he was trying to flee from the home, according to police; Morse was taken into custody without incident inside the home. Police said they seized evidence connecting the two to the crime, including masks and tire irons.
Boardman was taken to Rutland Regional Medical Center, where he was held for observation. That’s because Boardman was believed to have ingested a Fentanyl (narcotic) patch that had been stolen from the center.
Boardman was lodged on $25,000 bail.  Police took Morse to Rutland County Court for arraignment. Both face charges for armed robbery.
The Living Well Care Home was the scene of a previous armed robbery last September. The Bristol police investigation into that case continues and charges are pending against two other suspects, according to Chief Kevin Gibbs.
The Bristol Police Department is also working with the Living Well Care Home to address security concerns at the facility.
