Three to vie for two Midd selectboard seats

Middlebury voters on March 5 will decide a three-person race for two seats on their selectboard, a contest that’ll involve an incumbent, a former selectman, and the community’s former longtime town planner.

Barring stunning write-in results, the status quo will rule on the Vergennes City Council after Town Meeting Day, but the Ferrisburgh selectboard will have a new member after March 5 voting.

On Town Meeting Day, voters in Bristol and Lincoln will weigh in on contested races for open seats on their respective town’s selectboard.

Four people are running unopposed for four seats on the Addison Central School District board, which governs the preK-12 public school system serving students in Bridport, Cornwall, Middlebury, Ripton, Salisbury, Shoreham and Weybridge.

The Mount Abraham Unified School District board will work with its member communities to fill four vacancies on the panel that failed to draw candidates — or enough write-in votes — to be filled on Town Meeting Day.

Addison County residents showed strong support for education on Tuesday, when all local school budgets passed, four out of five by large margins. 

Parking spaces at and around Lincoln’s Burnham Hall on Monday evening were about as full as the warning for that evening’s annual town meeting, held in person for the first time in three years.
