Sheriff’s Log: Deputies investigate trash complaints

ADDISON COUNTY — Officers from the Addison County Sheriff’s Department were called to look into four instances this month when someone had been dumping trash inappropriately. First, on April 2, deputies followed up on a trash disposal issue on Ripton Road in Ripton. Two days later, they looked into trash being dumped at a pull off on Dean Road in Ferrisburgh. Deputies arrested Gabriel Mattison, 29, of Leicester after, authorities allege, he drove off the road on Route 30 in Cornwall and crashed into mailboxes and other private property.

An Addison County Sheriff’s Department deputy stopped by a daycare in Middlebury on March 10 and spoke to the kids there. Later in the week, on March 13, a deputy spoke during Career Day activities at Otter Valley Union High School in Brandon.

Deputies with the Addison County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call to check on a cow that appeared to be in distress on Arnold Bay Road in Panton on Feb. 6.

Deputies helped an injured person seek medical care and handled more than 100 traffic stops.

A driver fled deputies from the Addison County Sheriff’s Department when he tried to stop her in Cornwall. Eventually he caught up with and arrested her.
