Lincoln Community School seeks new principal

Lincoln School District officials have begun their search for a new administrator to lead the Lincoln Community School, as longtime principal Tory Riley will step down from the position at the end of this school year. 

Lincoln School Board members last week unanimously agreed to present voters with a spending plan for fiscal year 2025 that calls for $4,927,940 in total spending, an increase of $282,810, or 6.09%, over the current year. 

When Amy Cole takes the reins of the Lincoln School District in January, it will be as much a homecoming as a fresh start for the new superintendent. 

Lincoln School District officials are optimistic that the changes to the state’s education funding formula outlined in Act 127 won’t have a major impact on the district’s budget for Fiscal Year 2025. 

The Lincoln School District board has hired its first superintendent.

A search committee made up of community members and district officials will help facilitate that search over the next month and identify a candidate to begin leading the one-town district at the start of next year. 

As the first day of school approaches, Lincoln School District officials are looking forward to the supervisory district’s inaugural year. 

As the Lincoln School District readies for its July 1 start date, district officials’ current focuses include exploring options for transportation providers and filling the district’s remaining open positions. 

It was standing room only in Burnham Hall on Tuesday, when more than 100 Lincoln residents packed the municipal building to discuss and vote on the Lincoln School District’s first spending plan. 

During the Lincoln School District’s annual meeting next week, local voters will be asked to approve a $4.6 million spending plan for the new district’s first year of operation and elect a new face to serve on the school board. 

The budget for fiscal year 2024 is expected to translate into a 15-cent increase for Lincoln residents who pay education taxes based on the value of their home. 

The Lincoln School District is now looking to staff its central office as it prepares for beginning operations later this year.

More than 50 excited Lincoln residents filled Burnham Hall this past Thursday for the Lincoln School District’s first annual meeting, an event typically held as part of Town Meeting Day in March.

Despite the state’s decisive determination that Ripton will not be ready to provide educational services to its students, Lincoln School District remains confident.

The excitement was palpable in Lincoln’s Burnham Hall last Thursday, at the town’s first Lincoln School District informational meeting on July 28.
