On making a film of Jack London’s ‘Martin Eden’

Jack London has always interested me, for his vivid writing, social engagement, complex humanism and the textured emotions of his characters.

Set in 1909 and filmed on Nantucket, Jay Craven’s new independent film is based on Jack London’s autobiographical novel, “Martin Eden.”
