The Ethan Mary Baker Allen chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) once again has a sturdy flagpole from which to proudly fly the nation’s colors at its Samson Memorial Chapter House in Cornwall, thanks to the efforts of a local Scout troop.
A free open house will be held at the DAR’s John Strong Mansion in Addison on Saturday, Aug. 12, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and again from 2 to 3 p.m.
The 108-year-old Samson Memorial House has become perhaps the nicest, but least used, building in Cornwall Village.
The Seth Warner – Rhoda Farrand Chapter of the DAR hosted two leaders of the North Country Honor Flight when they came to honor former Vergennes resident Jerry Villeneuve, a Korean veteran, who made the flight last fall.
