CVFC hosts dairy workshop on April 10

As the local and global community increasingly recognizes the importance of addressing climate change, protecting soil health, and improving water quality, the dairy industry has a unique opportunity and responsibility to implement innovative, environmentally sustainable practices. 

The Champlain Valley Farmer Coalition, representing over 75 diversified farms in Addison and Chittenden County, has been a strong driver of economic growth and environmental stewardship in the state of Vermont.

The Champlain Valley Farmer Coalition has seen plenty of growth during the past year, from welcoming new members and staff, to launching a workforce development program for local high school students interested in agriculture.

Like most things, the future of agriculture in Vermont lies in the hands of younger generations. Today, many of those young Vermonters are leaving the state and pursuing careers outside of farming. 

Vijay Nazareth has experience in the private sector and in nonprofit management and finance, combined with a passion for conservation in agriculture and environmental stewardship.

Dairy producers like those at Blue Spruce Farm in Bridport, Mike’s Farm in Addison and those affiliated with the Champlain Valley Farmers Coalition are showing how they are making positive efforts to stem the amount of phosphorus from their land.
