Monkton bike/ped meeting coming up

The Town of Monkton is undertaking a Scoping Study for a Bike/Pedestrian Facility along the roadways that would make a loop around Cedar Lake.

Local planners and a hired consultant this week unfurled Middlebury’s first-ever “Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Plan,” a document that suggests 28 specific spots in the community where such amenities could be improved.

I enjoyed seeing coverage of the Tour de Farms and Kelly Brush Rides in last week’s paper. Unfortunately, there were multiple photos showing cyclists riding in an unsafe and illegal manner.

Registration is now open for ACORN’s Tour de Farms, one of Vermont’s oldest cycling farm tours.

It’s fun, it’s free and it’s kid friendly. It’s the Middlebury Bike Pump Track, which opened last week at the Middlebury Recreation Park.

The town of Middlebury wants to craft a comprehensive plan for its biking and pedestrian amenities, a document that would serve as a useful guide for locals and visitors. 

Monkton will soon start exploring ways to help cyclists and pedestrians get around town more easily.

The town of New Haven, in collaboration with the Addison County Regional Planning Commission and Vermont Agency of Transportation, is exploring ways to make Munger Street safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.

While riding my bike to work one Wednesday morning I rear-ended a stationary pick-up truck on Main Street during morning rush hour. The pickup won.

Cyclists from all over the region will be once again gathering in Middlebury to join in the biggest charity cycling event in the state, the 17th annual Kelly Brush Ride powered by VBT Bicycling Vacations.

After years in Bristol, Charlotte, Hinesburg, and Vergennes, ACORN’s Tour de Farms, one of Vermont’s oldest cycling farm tours, is returning to Shoreham, where the event started in 2008.

Save the date! The Vermont Walk Bike Summit is coming to Middlebury on May 6.

The Mary Hogan Preschool Program, Frog Hollow Bikes and Safe Routes Middlebury recently partnered to bring six new balance bicycles to the preschool at the Middlebury school.
