Buskey stands out in Big E horse events

Vermont 4-H youth showcased their talents and dedication at the 2025 Eastern States Exposition.

The 2025 State 4-H Dairy Judging Contest provided an opportunity for 4-H dairy members to demonstrate their ability to evaluate and rank dairy cattle based on breed standards.

Nineteen 4-H’ers had an “eggs-tra” special time at the 2025 Vermont 4-H Poultry Day, where they participated in competitions and workshops, presented posters and photos and worked on crafts.

Caroline and Thomas Allen of Vergennes and Merissa and Olivia Gordon of Bristol were among the 15 Vermont 4-H’ers, to participate in 4-H Day at the Capitol, on Feb. 28.

It might still be winter in Vermont, but for 49 4-H club members, it felt more like summer when they took part in the 2025 Addison County 4-H Foods Day. That’s because the theme for the event was Picnic.

Competition at the 2025 Addison County 4-H Dairy Quiz Bowl was lively as 4-H dairy members raced to be the first to buzz in with the correct answer to questions about dairy breeds, feeds, anatomy and the dairy industry, among other related topics.

Local 4-H’ers gathered at the Weybridge Elementary School in Weybridge on Jan. 25 for the 2025 Addison County 4-H Hippology and Quiz Bowl competitions.

For 29 Vermont 4-H dairy members, the 2024 Eastern States Exposition 4-H dairy show provided an unparalleled opportunity to compete against top dairy competitors from the other New England states.

For the seven 4-H teens selected to attend the 2024 National 4-H Dairy Conference in Madison, Wisc., it was a whirlwind four days of dairy-focused activities and opportunities to connect with like-minded peers from 20 states and three Canadian provinces.

The 2024 Multi-County 4-H Dairy Show was held July 19 and 20 at the Addison County Fair and Field Days grounds in New Haven under beautiful skies and sunny weather.

Shyanne Wedge of Shoreham placed fifth in the recent 4H Horse Judging contest, held May 5 at Destiny Morgan Farm in Colchester.
