Easy mid-morning loop hike on the Penfield Pond history trail. Easy walk with few elevation changes on the 2-mile Pond Loop trail with signs describing sites of the former ironworks village. Learn about local history dating back to the dawn of the electric age. The trail follows Putnam Creek, then the east shoreline of Pond. Limited parking at the trailhead, but additional parking at the Penfield Homestead Museum (703 Creek Rd., Crown Point, NY). Option to visit the museum’s annual Applefest 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. on your own, which features displays, food and music.
