Public invited to discuss truck traffic in Vergennes
VERGENNES — The Addison County Transportation Advisory Committee and other officials will be at a public hearing and open house this Tuesday, April 2, in Vergennes to discuss a study on truck traffic through the Little City.
At 6 p.m. at the Vergennes Opera House, consultants from Stantec Inc. will present their study on the impact of truck traffic through the heart of Vergennes. Representatives will be available for questions until 7 p.m., when the hearing will begin.
The Addison County Regional Planning Commission and the Vermont Agency of Transportation have commissioned the study to assess options for reducing the impacts of truck traffic in downtown Vergennes, while also considering impacts on neighboring towns. The draft study was presented to the Addison County Transportation Advisory Committee on March 20.
The purpose of the study was to provide recommendations that “enhance the economic vitality and quality of life in downtown Vergennes by reducing the noise, vibration, fume and dust impacts of truck traffic.”
