AOT launches app for locating buses
VERMONT — The Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) has announced the launch of a statewide bus locator tool, called the Transit App. The service shows the actual bus location on any transit route operating within Vermont and can be downloaded for free.
“We are excited to bring this level of information to our bus riders,” said Transportation Secretary Joe Flynn. “We remain committed to improving our public transit system, and this service was identified as a priority by our riders and transit providers.”
The Transit App can be downloaded on iPhones and Androids, and then used to search any route and/or bus stop for real-time location and projected arrival times. The app also has features for trip planning, step-by-step navigation, service disruption notifications, and departure and stop reminders.
“This is part of a larger and ongoing effort to provide better transit service,” said Barbara Donovan, AOT Public Transit Program Manager. “Our riders deserve this predictability and real-time information, and we continue to develop better tools and amenities to improve the rider experience.”
