Arlene Frances Stanley, 87, of Shoreham

ARLENE FRANCES STANLEY

SHOREHAM — Arlene Frances Stanley, age 87, passed peacefully Sept. 28, 2026, in the company of her sons at her home in Shoreham.

Arlene was born in Orwell on March 10, 1939. She was the daughter of Lewis and Heloise (Fortier) Doane. She grew up in Shoreham, where she received her early education in the local school. She graduated from Shoreham Academy, class of 1957. She began her working career as a secretary at Middlebury College. She later joined the staff at Shoreham Telephone, where she worked for more than 25 years. She retired in 2001. She was a member of St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Shoreham. She was a wonderful baker, making cakes, apple pie and breads.

She is survived by her sons, Kevin Stanley and Scott Stanley, both of Shoreham; one brother, Robert “Skip” Doane and his wife Calene; and three sisters, Louise Blackmer, Martha Brandt and Virginia Theiser. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, William Doane; and a sister, Carol Gregoire.

A graveside committal service and burial will take place on Saturday, Oct. 3, 2026, at noon, in the family lot, at St. Genevieve Cemetery in Shoreham.
