Opinion: Stroup stands out for Addison-3
As a lifelong resident of Vergennes and a young person looking to pursue a future career in public service, I’m confident that John Stroup is an excellent candidate to represent Addison-3 as a house representative in Montpelier.
I’ve known John for many years as a father and community member, but when I joined the ANWSD School Board as a Student Representative in May of my freshman year, I got to experience firsthand John’s incredible leadership and care for his constituents. Over our two years serving together on the board, John, as the Chair, consistently showed up as an advocate for youth voices, responsible spending and sustainable planning for Vermont’s educational future. Both on and off the school board, I’m continually astonished at the way John deeply engages in every conversation he enters. His integrity and ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals will serve him well in the legislature as a representative for our community.
Candidates like John who are people first and politicians second give me hope for our small state. I look forward to casting my first ever vote for John in the August 11 primary.
