Vergennes council sets new budget, sees 2.2-cent tax hike

After some last-minute financial maneuvering at its Tuesday night meeting, the Vergennes City Council adopted a Fiscal Year 2026 general fund budget of $3,336,868, about a 1% increase, and set the new municipal tax rate at 64.42 cents.
