Reflect they did, with 108 writers — ages 7 to 90, first-time writers and accomplished poets, parents and their children — submitting 420 haikus. As in past contests, the themes ranged widely — despair over fickle weather, challenges in growing old, perils of climate change, the beauty of Vermont in all seasons.
