THE LENA JOHNSON Trio will perform at Town Hall Theater in Middlebury on Friday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m.

‏Town Hall Theater Wintertide Concert Series presents the Lena Johnson Trio
in Middlebury on Friday, March 22

‏Hailing from Sweden, Lena Jonsson, Erik Ronström and Krydda Sundström will play Town Hall Theater’s season finale of the Wintertide Concert Series on Friday, March 22, from 7:30-9:30 p.m. The Lena Jonsson Trio brings together Swedish and American folk
influences in an electrifying performance. Jonsson’s star power coupled with Ronström and Sundström’s technical expertise on the guitar and bass create a one-of-a-kind show not to be missed.

‏Jonsson went to school for folk music at the Swedish Royal Academy and then continued her education with a study of American roots at Berklee College of Music. Her musical composition represents a broad spectrum, with influences ranging from Scottish and Scandinavian folk dance to waltzes to American jazz.

‏Just last year, the trio won Artist of the Year at Sweden’s Folk and World Music Awards and before that, their album, “Stories From Outside,” earned a Swedish Grammi, as well as the Manifest Prize in 2021.

‏In summer of 2023, the group released the critically acclaimed album, “Elements.” Music writer Gary Whitehouse’s assessment of the album is: “Jonsson is one of the best known folk musicians in Sweden today, she doesn’t seem to have received much notice in the U.S. With the Lena Jonsson Trio’s Elements that could very well change.”

‏Town Hall Theater’s executive director Lisa Mitchell shares these sentiments: “THT is thrilled to present this Swedish trio who has earned international fame and prestigious accolades. Their gorgeous music is the perfect conclusion to this year’s Wintertide Concert Series.”

‏Tickets are $22 and can be purchased at townhalltheater.org, by calling 802-382-9222, or in person at THT’s box office Monday-Friday between 12-5 p.m. Cash bar available.
