Turtles must remain in their habitat
BRINGING HOME A native Vermont wild turtle to keep as a pet is illegal because it can be harmful for the individual animal and local turtle populations.

The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department reminds Vermonters that keeping native turtles as pets is prohibited. It can harm the turtle and pose threats to wild turtle populations.
