Towns need to plan for emerald ash borer now

THE EMERALD ASH borer, which has been confirmed in 13 Vermont counties, is an invasive pest that infests and kills trees of several native ash tree species.

We have learned from municipalities in the American Midwest that the more time a town or city has to plan for the removal or treatment of ash trees on municipally managed lands, the better they are able to manage the financial costs and impact of the beetle.
