MIDDLEBURY — Harold Allen, 97 years old, of Middlebury, Vt., died Sept. 29, 2026.
He was born in Pittsfield, Mass., June 6, 1929, to Pearley and Lillian (Salk) Allen. Harold’s career was as a lineman with Central Vermont Public Service.
He married Pealene Slack March 19, 1954, in Chester, Vt. She died Aug. 23, 2004. In addition to his wife and his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his son Dale Allen. He is survived by his son Gary, who he cared for throughout his life.
By all accounts, Harold’s favorite hobby was riding his bicycle along Route 7 and other roads better suited to someone with nine lives. His destination was anyone’s guess, but his love of the ride was never in doubt.

Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, at Evergreen Cemetery in New Haven. Brown-McClay Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.◊
