MIDDLEBURY — Denise Diane Marie Shepard, age 90, passed peacefully Saturday, Aug. 22, 2024, at the Mountain View Center in Rutland. Denise was born in Whiting in 1935. She was the daughter of Dominique and Clara (Lamoureux) Quesnel. She grew up on the family farm in Whiting.

She was very good at knitting and crocheting. She made lots of sweaters, mittens and other items. She would take my sisters and I for long walks and treat us to lunch and ice cream at the park. She was a very kind and gentle person and would help you out if needed. She loved to play bingo.

Surviving is her son, Emile Shepard; daughters Estelle Thompson and husband David of Brookfield, Sandra Fairbrother and partner Thomas of Crown Point, N.Y., and Collette Morris and husband Henry of Barnett, Mo.; sister Claire Audet and husband Robert; and brother Victor Quesnel of Whiting.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Roger Quesnel and Cloude Quesnel; and three sisters, Yvette Quesnel, Regeanne Lalumier and Rita Cousineau.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, at 11 a.m., at the St. Genevieve cemetery in Shoreham.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme funeral home in Middlebury.◊
