WENDY LEE TRUAX

BRISTOL — Wendy Truax, 69, of Bristol, Vt., passed away peacefully with her family by her side July 22, 2026, after her courageous battle with a rare and aggressive form of Leukemia. Wendy was born Nov. 7, 1956, in Middlebury, Vt., to parents William and Leona Wells. Wendy attended Mt. Abraham Union High School and graduated from the class of 1974.

While still in high school, Wendy met the love of her life. Much to her parents chagrin she began dating the “Wild Truax Boy,” George. They wedded in Lincoln in September of 1975. George and Wendy celebrated 50 years of marriage and being best friends last fall.

Wendy made friends everywhere she went. She started her career at Lincoln Community School, where she worked from 1974-1997, serving lunch to generations of Lincoln’s finest kids. She loved every minute of it and building relationships with Lincoln’s children was one of her proudest accomplishments. She was often stopped by now-adults still missing her dixie delights. Her next professional venture of building friendships in the community was when working at the National Bank of Middlebury, in Bristol from 1997 until she retired in 2016. She enjoyed greeting customers and chatting longer than she should. Many lifelong friends were made with both customers and co-workers. In Wendy’s role as justice of the peace in Lincoln for more than 30 years, she was honored to have married many dozens of couples. Some were already friends — others became friends.

Wendy spent her time enjoying golf with her friends and George. She loved her winters in Ft. Myers, Fla., with many friends who became family. Wendy was her granddaughters’ biggest sports fan, driving around the state to attend any games they could while in Vermont. During the winter months, their Florida neighborhood could hear Mimi Wendy cheering on Lilli and Leah, wearing her Bears attire, streaming games in her living room.

Wendy is survived by her husband of almost 51 years, George; daughter, Margie Klark (Truax) of Danville; granddaughters, Lilli Klark of Davenport, Fla., and Leah Klark of Irasburg, Vt.; brother, William Wells III and his wife Anita of Benson, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews; and very special bonus family members, Jake and Scout Peirce of Lincoln, Vt. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Leona Wells of Lincoln, Vt.

A time of remembrance will be held at Burnham Hall in Lincoln, Vt., Aug. 29, at 2 p.m. Her wish was a time for her friends to come together and share funny and sarcastic stories. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Addison County Home Health & Hospice. ◊
