LINDA A. SCANLON

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — The family of Linda A. Scanlon, 77, of Bridgeport, Conn., and Salisbury, Vt., is saddened to announce her passing on July 1, 2026, at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Bridgeport, Conn., after a courageous five-week hospitalization. She passed away peacefully with her devoted husband and two children by her side.

Linda was born in Bridgeport to the late Lodovino and Dina Vagnini. She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Thomas “Tom” Scanlon; her daughter, Michelle (Mark) Komaromi of Milford, Conn.; her son, Thomas (Maryellen) Scanlon of Stamford, Conn.; her sisters, Sally Jacko of Tennessee and Christine (Pete) Peterson of Shelton, Conn.; and her seven cherished grandchildren, Jaclynn Campos, Mark Komaromi Jr. (Victoria), Jessica Scanlon, Kayla Scanlon, Thomas D. Scanlon, Evan Vitti, and Gianna Vitti.

After graduating from Bridgeport Central High School, Linda began her career at Western Union before joining Southern New England Telephone (SNET), where she worked until her retirement in 2000. She generously volunteered with the Bridgeport Police Activities League (PAL), especially enjoying her time at Christmas Village.

After retirement, Linda and Tom moved to Middlebury, Vt., where she worked in the office at Kampersville in Salisbury on Lake Dunmore, a place that held special meaning for their family. In 2009, they purchased a condominium in Bridgeport to spend more time with their growing family, especially their grandchildren. During that time, Linda also worked part-time at Stop & Shop in both Bridgeport and Trumbull, Conn.

Linda will be remembered for her kindness, strong work ethic, unwavering devotion to her family, and the love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren compete in various sports and cheering on UConn Huskies basketball. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her children and grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be treasured forever.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Liz Medina and the Davita Trumbull team, Dr. Gavin and Nephrology Associates, and primary care physician Dr. Dafcik, along with the surgical and Intensive Care Unit, for the compassionate care and kindness they provided throughout Linda’s final journey.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Parente Funeral Home in Fairfield, Conn. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Trumbull, where Linda will be laid to rest beside her beloved parents.◊
