Bridport teen accused of shooting his father
BRIDPORT — Vermont State Police have charged a Bridport teenager with shooting and killing his father last year.
State police on Monday charged Stephen Nuciolo Jr., 18, with second-degree murder in the Jan. 24, 2024, killing of Stephen Nuciolo Sr., 44. The younger man is due to be arraigned in Addison Superior Court, criminal division, on Tuesday.
State police received a report on Jan. 24, 2024, that Nuciolo Sr. had died in his Swinton Road home overnight. Troopers found his dead body there at around 9 a.m. that morning; later troopers reported that he had been shot in the head.
The investigation has remained open for the past 15 months, and police said that developments over this past weekend led detectives to arrest Nuciolo Jr.
The January 2024 crime scene happens to be the place where Addison County State’s Attorney Eva Vekos arrived to view the scene and talk with police, but police ended up citing Vekos for driving drunk to the scene. Vekos pleaded not guilty to the driving under the influence charge, and that case is still in the courts.
The Vermont Attorney General’s Office is handling the prosecution of Stephen Nuciolo Jr.
