NORMA HURLBURT LEDUC

SOUTH BOSTON, Va. — It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Norma Hurlburt Leduc, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Norma passed away unexpectedly on February 11, 2025, at Sentara Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston, Va.

Norma was born in Salisbury, Vt., on November 13, 1954, to Earl Alvin Hurlburt Sr. and Catherine Cormier Hurlburt. She attended grade school in Salisbury and Middlebury Union High School, where she graduated in 1973.

On September 21, 1974, Norma married the love of her life, Joseph Marcel Gerald Leduc, with whom they shared a life of love and companionship for over 50 years.  Norma worked for 36 years at Middlebury College, starting in facilities management in 1983 and retiring as the Assistant Aquatic Director in 2019. She was also a certified swimming and lifeguard instructor in some area towns.

After retirement, Norma and Marcel started a new adventure when they moved from Ripton, Vermont, to Halifax, Virginia. They enjoyed traveling, exploring parts of the United States and visiting family and friends along their journey. Norma loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph Marcel Gerald Leduc, and her sons Marcel Paul Leduc (Marie) of Salisbury, Vt., and Lance Marc Leduc (Jill) of Fountain, Colo.; four grandchildren, Jackson Leduc, Arlo Leduc, Bode Leduc, and James Mason.

Norma is also survived by her siblings, Earl Hurlburt Jr., Laura (Hurlburt) Bougor (Larry Sr.), both of Middlebury, Vt., Debra Hurlburt (Russ Lawton) of Salisbury, Vt., and sister-in-law, Lisa Hurlburt of Bluffton, S.C.

Norma’s brother, Jim Hurlburt, predeceased her.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at Halifax Baptist Church, with the Rev. Eddie Collins officiating.

Rest in Peace, Norma. You will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.
