College taps Univ. of Virginia scholar as its new president

Middlebury College has selected Ian Baucom to lead the institution as its 18th president. He will succeed former president Laurie Patton, who stepped down from the post at the end of last month to become president of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences in Cambridge, Mass.
