Letter to the editor: Outgoing ACSD board member urges folks to serve
I write this letter hoping to recruit community members to run for the Addison Central School District board this March. I served on the UD3 board 1985-2000 and functioned as chair for six years, when MUMS was built and MUHS was partially renovated. I returned to school board work in 2016 shortly after consolidation into ACSD. My involvement over many years gives me substantial perspective on what being on a school board entails and a long- term institutional memory.
I have very much enjoyed my participation, but it is time to pass the duties and responsibilities on to new people. I am confident that there are pragmatic, open-minded, dedicated individuals who will step forward. The upcoming years will require school board members to work to determine the structure and curriculum of public education in Addison County. This is a daunting challenge.
