Barry J. Mulcahy, 63, of Leicester
LEICESTER — Barry Joseph Mulcahy passed away peacefully at his home surrounded with loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Rutland, Vt., on June 18, 1961, he was the son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Noyes) Mulcahy. He leaves his legacy to his two children, Padraic Michael and Jillian-Rae Elizabeth (Corey Carlos), and is survived by four siblings, Danny (Sandi), Peggy (Bob Conley), Eileen, and Kay (Trish Abner). He is also survived by his loving wife, Mari (Boyce) Mulcahy. He is predeceased by two brothers, Kevin and Brendan.
Barry grew up in Brandon, Vt., attended Otter Valley Union High School, then graduated from College of St. Joseph’s with a bachelor’s degree in Business, and found his career with the Vermont Department of Corrections (VT DOC) for 37 years. He retired as Academy Administrator with the VT DOC and trainer with the National Institute of Corrections.
As a hobby, he procured property for land use preservation, growing and selling Christmas trees and preserving natural habitats. He acquired a few apartment dwellings to maintain in his spare time and sustained a comfortable home to so many.
In your travels, take time to hike the woods — this was Barry’s element. If you cross paths with a cedar waxwing, get centered, and say a special, grateful prayer.
Per Barry’s request there will be no funeral service. Barry’s way.
Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
