Letter to the editor: Why not take Now for what it is?
This is Now.
Of all of the moments in my entire life,
This is the only one that is Now.
Of course so many Nows seem alike,
But all of the others, past and future,
Are only in my mind.
This Now is all around me,
Involving every sense,
If only I would pay attention.
I spend so much time focused on other Nows.
Sometimes on past Nows,
More often on future Nows
When everything will be just as I hope.
But what about this Now?
It’s my only chance to experience it
In all of its glory,
Before it becomes another Then.
Of course Now often receives more honor once it’s Then;
Couched in context and perspective.
And Now often looks much brighter in the distance.
But why not take Now for what it is.
A once in a lifetime chance to see what this moment holds.
I’ve been placed here for a reason.
What does God have for me Now.
