Field hockey teams fall short

MIDDLEBURY UNION HIGH School 9th-grader Gwenn Rheaume looks like she can’t quite believe it after her first varsity goal on Oct. 4 against Mt. Abe. This tied the game at 1-1 in the second quarter, though the Eagles ultimately won, 2-1.

In two closely contested games in the past week, both the Mount Abraham and Otter Valley field hockey teams edged Middlebury. Elsewhere in high school field hockey, the Eagles and Tigers both lost to Division I title contenders, while the Otters won on the road to reach .500.
