Ralph Myhre golfers compete

MIDDLEBURY — Ralph Myhre Golf Course member Lucas Politano finished in a 10th-place tie at last week’s Vermont Men’s Amateur Championship, held at the Barre Country Club. Politano shot a four-round total of 293, with no single round higher than 74. Barre Country Club member Bryson Richards prevailed with a 275, shooting three rounds under 70. 

Ralph Myhre women members competed at two venues last week. At a July 5 VSWGA Women’s State Day at Williston Golf Club, Susan Rand fired the second-best gross score in the second flight, Nicole LaBerge shot the second-best net score in the second flight and won a closest-to-the pin contest, Eva Mastalos tied for the second-best gross score in the fourth flight, and Giselle Lafleche carded the second-best gross score in the fifth flight.

 On the same day at the VSWGA Women’s State Day at the Proctor-Pittsford Country Club, Eileen Sims and Kathy Mackey finished in a third-place tie for the gross score in the fourth flight. 

 In the Vermont Junior Tour on July 7 in Quechee, Brady Fallon posted a fourth-place finish in the Boys’ 10 to 14 Division, and in the Boys’ 15 to 18 Division, Matthew Bryant finished in a tie for 16th and Jack Breault in a tie for 18th. 

 In regular Thursday Men’s League play at Ralph Myhre the foursome of Ed Holgerson, Chris Prickitt, Steve Maier and Deem Schoenfeld prevailed, with Prickitt shooting the day’s best low net score with a 74.

The quartet of Jim Johnston, Tim Etchells, Allen Smith and Matthew Biette took second, and the team of Eric Bergland, Douglas Biklen, George Ramsayer and Jeff Stetson finished third.
