Brandon holds Memorial Day event
BRANDON — If you’re looking for a smaller parade, there’s an event planned in Brandon.
Beginning at 10 a.m., marchers will process from the post office south on Route 7 to the Civil War monument in Central Park.
The parade will be followed by the town’s historical flower girl ceremony, a recitation of The Gettysburg Address, and a 21-gun salute.
The Brandon Chamber of Commerce calls it “a very quaint event — a small parade, a few speeches and a 100-year-old tradition of first-grade girls placing flowers at the base of the Civil War Monument.”
