LEICESTER — Green Up Day is this Saturday, May 1.
Green Up bags are available at the Town Office, between the two office doors.
Full bags will be picked up late Saturday and Sunday, May 1 and 2.
The town is sponsoring the traditional free lunch for those working on cleaning up the roadsides. Free lunch will be available from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Senior Center. On Green Up Day, when you bring your bags to the collection trailer at the Town Shed, be sure to pick up a ticket for the lunch. The ticket also doubles as a raffle ticket. Prizes include gift certificates to local restaurants and merchandise from local businesses.
Contact the Addison County Solid Waste District at 388-2333 for info and pricing on how to get rid of items that cannot be put in the trash or be recycled. You can also visit 1-855-63-CYCLE for advice and locations to get rid of hard-to-dispose-of items like thermostats, batteries and paint. Working together we can have a fresh start as the word begins to reopen.
Town Green Up Coordinator Diane Benware asks that you contact her at 247-3786, for more information, if you want to know where to be picking up trash, or to let her know what road segment you have completed. School students will receive pencils, stickers and a free bag for each family to use to collect trash along their road.
