Local boys’ basketball teams bested

ADDISON COUNTY — Local high school boys’ basketball teams hit a tough stretch in recent action, as Middlebury, Mount Abraham, Vergennes and Otter Valley all came up short.
The Tigers hosted the Eagles on Tuesday; see story on Page 1B.
TIGERS
Visiting Division-I BFA-St. Albans picked up a big win on Saturday vs. the Tiger boys, 69-47. Justin Brown led the Bobwhites with 18 points. Karic Riche (16 points) and Max Alberts (11) hit double figures for the Tigers, who dropped to 1-2 heading into Tuesday vs. the Eagles.
EAGLES
On Friday, Feb. 19, host North Country ran away from the Eagle boys, 61-28. Corbin Brueck led the Falcons with 25 points. Lucas Jensen led the 1-2 Eagles with five points.
COMMODORES
Host Milton also sank the visiting Commodores on Feb. 19, 66-36. Yellowjacket Kyle Brown scored 21. For VUHS (0-2) Hayden Bowen (eight points) and Timothy Ashley (seven) led the way.
OTTERS
The OV boys lost two tight games. On Feb. 18 the host Otters couldn’t hold a late lead and fell to visiting D-I Mount Anthony, 54-49. Hayden Bernhardt led the Otters with 18 points and nine rebounds, and Parker Todd (12 points) and Elijah Tucker-Bryant (10) scored in double figures. Braeden Billert paced the Patriots with 17 points.
On Monday host Burr & Burton edged the Otters, 53-50, despite Todd’s game-high 15 points. Bernhardt added 11 as OV slipped to 0-3.
