Mike & Ruthy perform virual concert for Ripton Community Coffee house

The Ripton Community Coffee House will host an online concert featuring Mike and Ruthy on Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m., and invites everyone to enjoy the music from their own comfortable, socially distanced living room.  Snacking is encouraged.
Mike + Ruthy (Mike Merenda and Ruth Ungar) are Hudson Valley-based songwriters who have made waves in the folk/Americana world and beyond. A husband and wife team, Mike + Ruthy have recorded and performed their exquisite, original, Americana music together for two decades, as the duo Mike + Ruthy and with their quintet The Mammals. In 2018, Mike and Ruthy released “Sunshiner,” which Tape-Op magazine called “some of the best folk-rock music you will ever hear.”
These two believe in the transformative power of a great live performance. Touring upwards of a 100 shows a year (with their two kids in tow), Mike and Ruthy also produce a bi-annual folk festival called The Hoot, which the late Pete Seeger called “one of the best song gatherings I’ve seen in all my 94 years.” The Mammals May 2020 release, “Nonet,” has been hailed as one of the best records of the year.
Due to the coronavirus, the fall season of the Ripton Community Coffee House will not take place at the Community House, but the music continues online. Viewers can find links to the concert at rrch.org.  The concert is “free” but viewers can find ways to donate their entrance fee directly to the musicians (also at rrch.org), if they so choose. Normal in-house rates are $10 general; $15–20 generous donation. This concert is co-sponsored by Valley Stage Productions. For more information call 802-388-9782 or visit rcch.org.
