Men’s lacrosse pravails in opener
BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Middlebury College men’s lacrosse team bolted to a 6-0 lead on the way to a season-opening 16-12 victory at Bowdoin on Saturday. The Panthers return to action this coming Saturday, when they host Connecticut College at 1 p.m.
Tyler Forbes scored twice and assisted on two goals in the opening surge. The Polar Bears cut the lead to 6-5 early in the second quarter, but two Danny Jacobs goals helped push the lead to 9-5 at the break.
Bowdoin cut the lead to two goals once in the third period and to three twice in the third, but the Panthers answered every time.
Jacobs paced Middlebury with five goals, while Michael McCormack scored three. Forbes, A.J. Kucinski, Chase Goree and Will Brossman each scored twice. Kucinski’s two tallies gave him 100 for his career. Goalie Tyler Bass stopped 12 shots. Chris Fowler scored five goals, and Matt Ward added four for Bowdoin. Goalie Jack O’Connor made 15 saves.
Middlebury outshot Bowdoin, 52-36, and took advantage of 20 Bowdoin turnovers.
