DOUGLAS W. GOODRICH

SALISBURY — Douglas W. Goodrich, son of Wilbur and Hazel (Douglas) Goodrich, passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2020, at Shard Villa in Salisbury within one week of his 98th birthday. He was born on the family farm a half mile south of there, and lived in Salisbury most of his life.
He graduated from Middlebury High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a flight mechanic during World War II. After the war, he returned home and worked as a power station operator for CVPS. He later transitioned to maintenance supervisor for the Middlebury District before retiring in 1984. After retirement, he worked at Camp Keewaydin.
Doug was always active in the community, serving on the Salisbury selectboard and school board. He was a deacon at the Salisbury Congregational Church and a deputy sheriff for Addison County. He loved hunting and fishing, and was always there to lend a helping hand to someone in need.
He was predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Iva (Wildesen) Goodrich, and a son, Douglas Wesen Goodrich.
He is survived by two sons, Herbert Goodrich and his wife Anne of Derry, N.H., and Chris Goodrich and his wife Debbie of Bridport; daughter-in-law Debbie (Young) Goodrich; sister Joyce Marshall; eight grandchildren, and nine great-grand children.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Salisbury Congregational Church at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 18.
Many thanks to Addison County Home Health and Hospice, and Shard Villa for the wonderful care that he received at the end. Please donate to either of these in lieu of flowers. ◊
