Otter Valley football tops Oxbow in semi
BRANDON — The No. 3 Otter Valley Union High School football team cruised past visiting No. 6 Oxbow, 39-26, on Saturday in a Division III quarterfinal.
The 6-3 Otters will travel this Saturday for a rematch with No. 2 BFA-Fairfax, the team they upset on Oct. 19, 38-36, on the road. That was the 8-1 Bullets’ only loss and knocked them out of first place.
OV for the second straight game got four touchdown passes from quarterback Alex Polli. Nate Blake rushed for more than 100 yards and a touchdown and surpassed 1,000 yards for the season during the game.
After Oxbow (4-5) cut the score to 21-13 in the final minute of the first half, OV scored on the half’s final play, a 51-yard bomb from Polli to Brady Diaz. OV then took complete control by marching for a TD to open the second half.
Polli completed 10 of 13 passes for about 200 yards and tossed two TD passes to Blake and two to Diaz.
Chance Passmore and Dylan Gaboriault each intercepted Oxbow QB Cooper Simmons, and Keevon Parks sacked Simmons three times. Simmons finished 14 for 26 for well over 200 yards.
