Otter Valley field hockey wins in OT
WOODSTOCK — The Otter Valley Union High School field hockey team defeated host Woodstock on Friday, 4-3 in overtime. The win moved the Otters to 7-2 and into second place in Division II.
Brittney Jackson rapped home the game-winner on a penalty corner awarded to the Otters as time expired in overtime. With the clock at 0:00, Alia Edmunds crossed to Jackson at the far post, and Jackson converted for the game-winner.
Edmunds had forced overtime with a blast on another penalty corner with 90 seconds to go in regulation, capping an OV comeback from a 3-1 second-half deficit.
Jackson, from Mackenzie McKay, gave OV an early lead before Woodstock scored three unanswered goals, two by Lily Gubbins. A Morgan LaPorte goal with 20 minutes left in the second half started OV’s rally. Wasp goalie Maggie Parker made 14 saves, and OV’s Ellie Ross made eight.
