Eagle football topped by Oxbow, 33-14
BRISTOL — Visiting Oxbow defeated the Mount Abraham-Vergennes cooperative football team, 33-14, on Saturday, in the Division II opener for both high school programs.
Oxbow running back Jace Page and quarterback Cooper Simmons combined to score or throw for all five Oxbow touchdowns. Simmons set the tone early by tossing an 80-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Locke on the game’s first play from scrimmage.
Eagle sophomore quarterback Adam Mansfield amassed 220 yards passing in the setback. Many of those yards came on throws to sophomore Carmelo Miceli, who totaled 165 yards receiving.
The Eagles and first-year Coach Jeffrey Stein will look to break through at Milton on Friday night.
