Letter to the editor: Many boosted Peasant Market

On behalf of Saint Stephen’s Church, we extend our thanks and appreciation to all the members of the community who helped out with Peasant Market on July 6. Many people generously donated their used goods. The town came out in force to buy the same. And numerous good-hearted citizens both from within the church and from the wider community put in hours of volunteer time to make the event a success.
We particularly appreciate the support from the Addison Independent, WVTK, Middlebury College, Mount Abraham Union High School, and the Festival on the Green. Thanks to all of these efforts — and despite the deluges that drenched the green in the early afternoon — the market brought in more than $24,000. After expenses are recouped, the balance of the available funds will be made available to local social service agencies through a grant process. Thanks to all for helping make the day a big success.
Because of the disruption caused by the downtown rail and bridge project, it will not be possible to hold Peasant Market on the Green next summer. Look for us in a new location in July 2020!
